Shattered Glass

SHATTERED GLASS
by
Eric Kobb Miller

There comes a sinking feeling
when hitting the glass ceiling
and falling back to the unlevel
playing field, where dreams
of rising to one's full potential
become a matter inconsequential,
in a game that is not fair and square
for all the players there, and where,
despite their talents, beyond the ceiling
the cannot go, regardless of the credentials
they show, until that unlevel playing field
of grass is covered with shattered glass.
