Verbal Eyes

Verbal Eyes
by
Eric Kobb Miller

I met her voice before I
I met her eyes, because I
was on my knees dealing
with shoestring ties, but
when I rose to my full
height, I lost her voice, but
I found her sight.

I only heard what I did see
in those sky blue eyes with
which she looked at me, as
the only sound that filled
the air came from ocular
words of a smitten pair.

And from that moment, we
both knew that a happy life
lay ahead and, at its end, we'd
say our good-byes through
 our verbal, loving eyes.
